History Of Our School
Richard Atkins Primary School opened as New Park Road School in 1897; it was enlarged and renamed as Brixton Hill School before finally being named Richard Atkins Primary School in 1951.We are extremely lucky to have a beautiful Victorian building which stands as a distinctive cornerstone of the neighbourhood. The beauty, special architectural and historical significance of our school was recognised, on 27th March 1981, when the main building was listed under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act.
