Music
At Richard Atkins we believe that music is an important creative and social art that can motivate and inspire children to have greater confidence to communicate and express themselves.
As stated in the National Curriculum, music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high-quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and develop their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.
Children are taught by a specialist music teacher to provide children with a range of inclusive opportunities to create, play, perform and discover and develop their musical knowledge, critical engagement and cultural understanding.
We also ensure that our pupils are given many opportunities to sing, act, compose and perform to audiences throughout the school year and we believe this plays an integral role in building confidence and self-esteem.
